Kohlrabi

Filed under: Uncategorized — theresaurus @ 4:13 am

I found these at the farmer’s market last weekend. A farmer decided to grow them, I’m amazed. This is pretty exotic, even I don’t know what to do with them. The farmer had posted a picture and recipe of what seemed to be a stir-fry. I think I’ll just try it raw.

  1. They look like kohlrabi to me! I love kohlrabi…my mum used to grow it in our garden.

    • Oh, yeah, you’re right. Either the farmer got it wrong or I did, probably me.

      • Raw is quite nice…there are lots of recipes on the net for it. I think it’s a very mild vegetable. I found it up here last year and was really surprised….hadn’t had it in years.

  2. Kohlrabi. Peel it, slice it, dip it in stuff, eat it. Tastes like celery hearts.

    • Even the German name! I think all Germans love it and hardly find it outside Germany and if, they are happy. As kids we ate them like apple pieces. Anne

      • We ate it raw — really nice to have another vegetable to dip things in.
